Southwestern Landscapes: Sangre de Cristo Sunrays

"They are overwhelmingly powerful pictures... When she paints, she makes intuitive and spontaneous decisions. She considers herself to be a vehicle for the expression of nature's spiritual presence."

Landscapes, acrylics, Santa Fe, New Mexico. "While repeating the configuration of mountains, which I loved, painted from the Opera parking lot in Santa Fe, I wanted more complexity in the foreground so added land formations from areas which were not exactly at this spot. I painted a river, like a path, to lead towards the golden mountain, and wanted the sky to have multiple light rays, with layers of clouds and layers of earth. I wanted to repeat the hot color scheme, but let my imagination create a portion of the geography."
